Port Wine, it's not just for dessert

 

Traditionally, port wine is served with cheese such as Stilton, blue cheeses and Cheddars as well as desserts made with chocolate, nuts, and even with cigars. What many do not know is that sweet fortified wines such as port can also be served with savory foods.

 

We’re going to be untraditional in November and pair port with savory food. We’ll toss in a few sweet items, too, so we can compare and contrast the savory and sweet flavors and pairings.

 

Join us Tuesday, 11 November for an untraditional port pairing.

Members:              $45.00 per person

We'll start with Cava before moving on to dinner.
- Eggplant with cheese and walnuts
  Old Friends white port
- Butternut squash soup
  Osborne Tawny port
- Grilled mushroom and beef with olive oil and parsley (for vegetarians, a vegetable will be substituted for the beef)
  Osborne Ruby port
- Meatballs (for vegetarians, a vegetable will be substituted for the meatballs)
  Quinta do Noval late bottled vintage port 2008
- Cabrales cheese, flourless chocolate bites and almonds
  Graham's 10 year Tawny port

 

 

 

Reservations: No reservations will be accepted after November 7, 2014. Payment is required in advance by credit card or check and is non refundable. If paying by check, your payment should be payable to ‘WWS’ and sent to WWS in c/o Karla Barber, 3510 Turtle Creek Blvd, #5A, Dallas, TX 75219. Payment must be received by the date of the event. Do not send checks to the address listed on the website.
