The Seattle Chapter of Women For WineSense Welcomes

Joe Dobbes

of Dobbes Family Estate, Dundee, Oregon

Monday, April 6th, 2015

6:30pm at

McCormick & Schmick's Harborside

1200 Westlake Avenue North

Seattle, Washington

Oregon native Joe Dobbes began his hands-on wine making education in Germany's Nahe region and in Burgundy and Alsace in France. After 2 1/2 years in Europe, Joe headed home to Oregon, and to Elk Cove Winery as Cellarmaster. Subsequent positions included crafting award-winning wines at Tualatin Estates, Willamette Valley Vineyards, and Torii Mor. Striking out on his own in 2002, Joe began building his dream in Dundee, creating Dobbes Family Estate and Wines By Joe, followed by Jovina in 2005, while also custom crushing for other clients. Our evening will focus on Dobbes Family Estate wines, his luxury label centered around Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, Rogue Valley Syrah, Viognier and Grenache Blanc (Oregon's first). We will also have a bit of one of the state's signature varietals, Pinot Gris from Wines By Joe. Says Joe: "At Dobbes, we are passionate about letting the grapes speak.  My job is to bring forth the flavors, the textures, the colors and aromas that the fruit is eager to share. And in Oregon, we are blessed with some of the best fruit in the world." Come join us for a taste of Oregon!

Our dinner will be in the private Fireside Room at McCormick & Schmick's Harborside on Seattle's Lake Union, which happens to be a restaurant with Oregon roots. In the 70's, Bill McCormick and Doug Schmick purchased Jake's Famous Crawfish in Portland, refurbishing the 100 year old landmark, which later led them to create McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurants. Our evening's menu:

Spinach & Arugula Salad

Dried Cranberries, Goat Cheese, Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette

~

Grilled Marinated Flank Steak

Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Tomato & Basil Salad with Balsamic Reduction

or

Wild Mushroom Ravioli

Caramelized Fennel Cream, Olive Oil Poached Tomatoes

(vegetarian option)

~

Ice Cream

The cost for the evening is $69.00 for members, $75.00 for nonmembers.
