No beer kegs or Margaritas at this BBQ! We will have some summer fun choosing which 8 Bells wines go best with a feast of Southern BBQ. After sipping a chilled and welcoming, warm weather-friendly 8 Bells Pinot Gris, we will begin our experiment. In front of us will be 4 wines to sample with our Arkansas-style barbecue. Not knowing what those wines are should lead to some great pairings that may be quite a surprise!

The 8 Bells Winery story began in 1980 when Tim Bates made wine from Sagemoor Farms grapes in his basement. Andy Shepard joined Tim in 1996, and through a friend in the Boeing Wine Club, they gained access to some of Washington and Oregon's best vineyards. Next came Frank Michiels in 2006. Frank watched crush and took 100 pounds of grapes home to make wine in his kitchen. The trio made the move to their new space on Roosevelt Way in 2009, where they had their first official 8 Bells crush. Holding this event at this small production, award-winning winery, is a real treat!

Girls gone BBQ was inspired by the barbecue Dana Neely loved while growing up in Des Arc, Arkansas. Her father's BBQ ribs, slow roasted over the grill for hours, were her favorite. She has brought the tastes of her childhood to Seattle, catering and serving up her Southern, hickory-smoked Girls Gone BBQ dishes at West Seattle Farmer's Market on Sundays.

Our BBQ Feast:

Baby Back Ribs

Smoked and mopped with Dana's Ode to MO sauce for 6-7 hours to create caramelized goodness. This sauce honors her father's Missouri roots
~
Chicken
Washington State free range. Just like the ribs, minus the pork, and 2 hours
~
Crunchy Apple Arkanslaw
A bit sweet and definitely crunchy, Arkansans put it on their bar-b-ques's
~
Potato Salad

Southern style with real Polish pickles
~
Corn Bread
Savory not sweet. Arkansas style with just a pinch of sugar

~
A Light Dessert
~
