FLX: VIRTUAL Biodynamic & Organic Wines via Zoom

Bio wines

Organic. Biodynamic. Vegan. Demeter Certified. Organically
 grown grapes. USDA Certified Organic.

What do all these terms mean? How are they different? Don’t they mean the same thing? Wine labels can be confusing enough with all the different regions, names, and varietals. Add in all the above terms, and it is easy for a buyer to become overwhelmed. This month we will demystify the organic wine world by exploring different classifications and meanings. By showcasing wines with each classification, we will take you on a tour of the world through wine and small bites prepared in front of you by Rio Tomatlan.
We look forward
to casting our event live your home via Zoom! The Zoom link will be emailed to all registrants prior to the start of the event, on April 19, 2021.

Your tour guide for the Organic/Biodynamic Wine Adventure will be FLX Chapter’s own Community Service Director and Educational Grant Recipient: Jen Susa. After teaching for 13 years and dabbling as an outside tasting associate for Dr. Konstantin Frank, Jen was ready to trade in her dry erase marker to follow her passion and pursue a career in the wine industry. Domaine LeSeurre was the first full time stop on her industry tour, eventually leading her to a sales position with Swedish Hill then launching her into distribution land as a Sales Representative for Sunshine Wines. Sunshine focuses primarily on organic and biodynamic wines. Most recently, Jen joined the Elmira Distributing Company sale force.

Over the past year, our local communities have been hit hard by the pandemic. Ever striving to give back, we have selected the Victor/Farmington Food Cupboard for our 1st quarter charity. According to Karen Guidarelli, the Director, “The Victor Farmington Food Cupboard (VFFC) moved in July to a larger space in Victor and have seen our numbers increase by roughly 35% since then (typically around 600 families/month at this time of year we are now closing in on 800 and served 990 in December!).” We know this past year has been tough for everyone, but if you have any of the following items in your pantry, please consider bringing them to the April event:

-Rice

-Pasta and pasta sauce

-Paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, plastic cutlery–we give these to homeless people)

-Peanut butter (especially small sizes or packs for student lunch boxes)

small jars of jelly or jam

-Pop-top soup–hearty soups with protein and vegetables

-Canned proteins (chicken, tuna, black beans, etc.)

-Condiments – ketchup, mustard, relish, cooking oil, mayonnaise, steak sauce, salad dressing, etc.

-Canned fruit of any type

-Cereal (any type)

-Easy-to-prepare, nutritious, after school snacks: granola bars, crackers and cheese, peanut butter crackers, yogurt.
