How do Condiments Affect Wine Pairing?
Have you ever wondered how condiments affect wine pairing or why some pairings work and others do not? This month, Master Sommelier Melissa Monosoff will discuss the basic interactions of wine and condiments, and which pairings work.
Melissa is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. She honed her skills at the top restaurants in Philadelphia as a cook, sommelier, bartender, and beverage director. She has been the Education Director for the Court of Master Sommeliers since 2013.
Melissa earned her Master Sommelier Diploma in February 2010; she is the 17th woman in the world to hold this title. Philadelphia Magazine named her “Best Sommelier” two years in a row. Wine & Spirits Magazine recognized her as one of America’s “Best Young Sommeliers”, and she was a James Beard Foundation nominee for “Outstanding Wine Service”.
In 2018, she published her first book, Stuff Every Wine Snob Should Know. In 2019, she published two Education Books for the Court of Master Sommeliers: The Introductory Sommelier Course Workbook and the Deductive Tasting Workshop Workbook.
In addition to her wine knowledge, Monosoff is a recognized name in the beer community, having completed her Certified Cicerone in June 2013.
In 2020, Melissa was nominated as the Vinitaly International Wine and Spirts Competition (IWSC) “Wine Communicator of the Year”.
