Sam Teakle

Sam Teakle joined the Captûre winemaking team in 2015. Sam is tasked with finding and harnessing some of the best vineyards while creating wines that showcase the nuances of mountain Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon from the rugged Mayacamas Mountain Range. Even before joining Captûre, he has been drawn to mountain vineyards and exploring the frontier of winemaking in these remote regions.

He has traveled throughout Europe and Australia, working harvests in Alsace at Hugel, Champagne at Veuve Devaux, Greece at Alpha Estate and Australia at Adelaide Hills and Yangarra. His winemaking journey then took him to Napa Valley and Sonoma County, where he worked exclusively with mountain fruit. Sam focused on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with the winemaking teams of Cardinale, Lokoya, Stonestreet and Carneros Hills wineries. Here he learned the essential skills that have helped contribute to his own mountain winemaking style. This combined with the rugged vineyards along the Mayacamas Mountain Range are what make the Captûre wines so incredible.

Even outside of winemaking, Sam is truly passionate about the mountains and exploring the next peak. He is an avid skier and mountain biker who has carved down some of the best mountains in 5 countries with plans to go further.
