We will be cruising along the Erie Canal on The Colonial Belle. We will be making a two-hour cruise traveling from Fairport to Pittsford and return. While traversing the canal our ship Captain Tammee Poinan Grimes will provide some history on the Erie Canal.
Did you know the Erie Canal was built between 1817 and 1825, the original Erie Canal traversed 363 miles from Albany to Buffalo. It was the longest artificial waterway and the greatest public works project in North America. The canal put New York on the map as the Empire State—the leader in population, industry, and economic strength.
While on-board you will be served Rieslings that will be presented to you by our National, Finger Lakes, and Rochester Chapter Presidents.
We hope to see you as we enjoy the beautiful scenery, learn about the magnificent man-made wonder in our state and the delightful wines on your American table.
As we will be on cruise, it is recommended you dress appropriately. Unless there are thunderstorms we will still hold the event. The upper deck is open (you’ll probably want a coat), the lower deck is fully enclosed.
We will sail promptly at 6:30 pm.
