When we explore Italy, we celebrate its diversity. Every "backyard'' has its own history, dialect, and cuisine. From region to region the landscape changes with the pasta shapes. Wines of Italy is no different. Prosecco, Chanti Lambrusco, Valpolicella and Veneto Pinot Grigio are well-known to us. During this event we will visit some familiar friends, explore some new backyards, and answer the question: Is it Frizzante or Spumante? Join us as NYK Beverage University Instructor and Hermann J. Wiemer Resident Sommelier, Thera Clark, helps us to discover the diversity of Italian wine. Salute!
About Thera

Thera Clark grew up in the Finger Lakes region and moved back to the area recently after living in New York City for 16 years. She graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education before going on to work as a sommelier and wine director in some of Manhattan's top restaurants including The Beatrice Inn and Carbone. In 2022, Thera completed the WSET Level 3 Certificate in wine.
Today, Thera is the In-House Sommelier for Hermann J. Wiemer & Standing Stone Vineyards, focusing on education and promoting the region. Thera spearheaded this year’s exciting launch of the Library at Hermann J. Wiemer, where she offers a curated experience that pairs food with historic wines.
Excited to shine a light on the culinary abundance of the Finger Lakes, she also works with local chefs to host dinners, highlighting craft brewers, and local winemakers.
