This is a winery tour unlike anything you’ve experienced. We’ll talk about the dirty side of winemaking - wastewater and how it is being cleaned by worms! Join us on Sunday September 8th from noon to 2pm at Michael Ros Winery, just east of Fredericksburg on Old San Antonio Road. See the state’s only worm farm that helps clean the winery’s water for use to irrigate the vineyard. Learn about the BioFiltro system and why sustainability is important in the wine world. Enjoy a welcome splash of wine upon your arrival, discussion of sustainability and tour of the worm farm, followed by a private tasting in the Barrel Room and 2 slices of pizza from the on-site food truck. Wear comfortable walking shoes as we will be walking on gravel from the tasting room to the winery. We will be outdoors for the tour and discussion and indoors for the tasting, so dress accordingly. Layers are recommended, as is sunscreen. Members, non-members, women, men, industry professionals and casual wine lovers, everyone is invited. $40 for members and $55 for non-members. The educational discussion is well worth the cost, but the wine tasting and pizza will really top off the experience. Additional wine and food available for purchase. Advance registration is required. We’ll also have a wine pull with 100% of proceeds going to our new scholarship, so be sure to buy your $20 wine pull tickets separately or bring cash.
