WWS Educational Events in November 2014

Across the country, WWS hosts many exciting events during the month of November. To register for any of these events, go to the WWS Events Calendar.

Portland: Palate Tune-UP
Nov 3, 6:30PM
Join us at Wine & Spirit Archive where we will focus on wine's structure and defining components such as acid, tannin, body, sugar, alcohol and minerality. Students will learn why these components vary from wine to wine and how they interact with one another.
Pittsburgh: Go-Go Gadget!
Wine Gadget Event
Nov 4, 6:30PM
Just in time for Christmas gift ideas! Come see some of
the great items to enhance your wine experience during a 5 course meal.

Dallas: Port wine, it's not just for dessert
Nov 11, 6:00PM

Traditionally, port wine is served with cheese such as Stilton, blue cheeses and Cheddars as well as desserts made with chocolate, nuts, and even cigars. What many do not know is that sweet fortified wines such as port can also be served with savory foods. We’re going to be untraditional in November and pair port with savory food. We’ll toss in a few sweet items, too, so we can compare and contrast the savory and sweet flavors and pairings.

Rochester: An Italian Brunch
Nov 11, 7:00PM
Let us transport you (in your mind) to Italy for a wonderful Brunch hosted by Donna Schlosser-Long, Rochester’s Regional Manager for Frederick Wildman & Sons and former WWS Board Member.  Italy is home to some of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world, and Italian wines are known worldwide for their broad variety. Over the course of the evening, we will sample diverse wines paired with foods chosen from one of our favorite meals (extending our Sunday Funday past the weekend!).

Dallas: Annual Holiday Gathering & Wine Experience

Dec 2, 6PM

Our holiday gathering and wine exchange is a perennial favorite. It’s a great opportunity to relax, chat up members you may not know that well and learn about the interesting wines people bring to exchange. Please bring a $25.00 bottle of wine to exchange. We ask that you share why you picked your wine. Your reason might be it’s this month’s house favorite, it reminds you of a fun time, you like the label or the wine girl at the shop recommended it.

Seattle: Holiday Dinner with Lauren Aston Cellars

Dec 3, 6:30PM
