How is technology helping wine drinkers discover the wines they really want?
With so many wine apps out there, it can be hard to choose the right one for you, let alone which wine to drink tonight!
Amy Gross, Founder and CEO of the personal preference data company VineSleuth, will lead a conversation about what wine apps are out there to help guide wine drinkers, as well as talk about ways retailers are getting into the game to help shoppers in store, digitally.
Amy has been working in wine flavor data since 2010. In 2009, she was a frustrated consumer, tired of gambling at the grocery store or restaurant when a sommelier was not around to help. After thinking about the idea for a while, she got to work recruiting and directing sensory scientists, wine makers and an applied mathematician to create a new way to objectively characterize wine and build out a personal preference learning algorithm.
Along the way she launched a wine blog and successful wine pairing e-cookbook in 2011, and then launched Wine4.Me, a free iPhone application in the summer of 2014, that Mashable quickly named a "Top 5 Must-Have App."
In the fall of 2015, VineSleuth joined forces with IBM Watson to begin work on a new project just for retailers, to go right in the wine aisle as kiosks where most casual wine drinkers shop. The partnership caught the attention of the New York Times, the Editor in Chief of Fortune, CNN Money, CNBC, and more.
Amy was a featured keynote speaker at IBM's Insight conference last fall, sharing her journey and expertise using cognitive computing with wine in front of a live audience of 14,000.
Come ready to discuss your favorite wine apps, learn about some new ones, and also see what you can expect as flavor technology impacts the world of wine retail.
