Attendees will experience six rare volcanic wines from around the world paired with food by True Roots Catering. After this event, attendees will be able to recognize the rarity of volcanic soils and the unique qualities they impart onto winemaking, wine structure, and flavor profile. Our guide for the evening will ensure that everyone leaves more confident purchasing these hard-to-find wines and will learn more about wines that are comparable to the volcanic wines for everyday enjoyment!
About our Speaker:
Kyle Knapton, a Penn Yan native who began his career in education and performance arts, has spent the last 13 years of his life heavily involved in the world of wine. From his first position as an assistant winemaker, to running the tasting room of an up-and-coming winery, to managing a wine shop, which he now co-owns and continues to run daily, Kyle has had the privilege to take part in all sides of the industry. In addition to co-owning Water Street Wines and Spirits in Penn Yan, where he runs a monthly wine club featuring exciting and interesting new wines, Kyle also holds an Advanced Certificate from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust, and is a Certified Wine Specialist in Sherry.
Leaning on his formative years as an educator, Kyle continues to share knowledge and teach classes through a variety of venues and partnerships, including Cultivate FLX, Women For WineSense, the American Wine Society, and of course, his own store. Kyle recently returned from an educational and enlightening trip to the Loire Valley and the Champagne Region of France, and he looks forward to continuing to share knowledge and experience with each bottle of wine he recommends.
