DAL: Sherry. Does it make you want to run? Stop!

Sherry. Does it make you want to run? Stop!

Sherry is often misunderstood but should be embraced. Sherry ranges from bone dry to sweet. It can be enjoyed as an aperitif, with food, or as an after dinner drink.

The town of Jerez has been a center of viniculture since winemaking was introduced to Spain by the Phoenicians in 1100 BCE. Sherry has been produced in Spain from at least 1264, in the triangular area of the province of Cádiz (SW Spain) between Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and El Puerto de Santa María. By the end of the 16th century, sherry had a reputation in Europe as the world's finest wine.

Join us Tuesday, January 16 at 6:30 pm at Café Madrid for pintxos and sherry. Claire Henderson Berrutti, a certified sherry educator and senior brand manager at González Byass USA, will join us to share her vast knowledge of sherry and explain the solera system that is used to age sherry. We’ll enjoy multiple styles of sherries, that range from dry to sweet and in between, paired with pinxtos.
