About this event

Join us on Saturday, July 20th at noon, as we kick off the first of our Weekend events for 2024! These events are a great way to kick back, relax, socialize, and learn about wine after a busy work week.

For our first event, we are sharing our love of Finger Lakes wines with you by welcoming Sheldrake Point Winery. Sheldrake Point has been producing award-winning wines since 1997 on their land on the west side of Cayuga Lake since 1997. The winery team is dedicated to producing wines using sustainable practices. They have a remarkable “library” collection of wines from each vintage they have produced along with their Beta series wines sold only at the winery.

Perry Hicks, Associate Winemaker at Sheldrake Point Winery will be our speaker. Perry will guide us as we learn about the winery and their wines. She is just back from a three-month harvest internship in Argentina. Looking forward to hearing about her experience down under as well

Lunch Menu:

Lillian Perry Hicks, Associate Winemaker, Sheldrake Point Winery

Perry found her way to the Finger Lakes all the way from her family’s farm in rural Georgia when she joined Cornell University’s Chemistry and Chemical Biology program for her Master of Science. She began winemaking as a harvest intern in 2021 at Sheldrake Point Winery and quickly fell in love with the hands-on approach and palate-pleasing aspect of the industry. Within months she evolved from working as an intern/winery assistant to assistant winemaker. She was appointed Associate Winemaker in January 2024.

When Perry is not applying her chemistry skills to wine analysis, she is planning and executing filtrations, blendings, stabilizations, and tending to her favorite winery duties – wine tasting and forklifting.

Perry has completed harvests in Marlborough, New Zealand (2023), and Mendoza, Argentina (2024). She has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Mercer University and a Master of Science in Chemistry from Cornell University.
