Do you drink white wine blends? Do you know how they are made? Would you like to know how a winemaker creates a white wine blend? If you answer "yes" to these questions then you need to attend this "members only" special event. We are heading back to Anthony Road Wine Company on Seneca Lake for this special event. Our wine educator is Peter Becraft, Head Winemaker of Anthony Road Wine Company. Peter started working at AR during the harvest of ‘06. In ‘08, he became the assistant. In 2012, Peter began to make the non-Riesling white wines starting with Chard and Vignoles (both table and dessert). In 2013, Chard, PG, Vignoles and Gewurz. In 2014, Peter took over all head wine-making duties.
Peter was our guide for our “Blending Cool Climate Red Wines” in 2019 and he will again walk everyone through a tasting of the “white” component wines and then discuss white wine blending. Each team will create and taste their own blend followed by a taste of all the blends. We will incorporate a blind tasting into our event to determine a “winner” of our teams blending efforts. Due to COVID, Anthony Road has changed their tasting model so they are unable to offer our members a wine tasting before the event. But, the Tasting Room will be open before and after our event for attendees to purchase wines. Remember that AR offers Women For WineSense members a 15% discount on standard portfolio wine purchases. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the event to "check-in". Remember to wear your mask when entering the building and until you are seated at your table.
