FLX: Dry Rosé from the Iberian Peninsula

Our chapter loves Dry Rosé so much that we typically hold an event each year focused on this delicious style of wine. We have tried many local and international Rosé over the years, but we haven’t really focused on Dry Rosé from the Iberian Peninsula. Did you know that the countries of Spain and Portugal make up the Iberian Peninsula? Wines from these two countries which most people recognize are Cava and Rioja from Spain, and Vino Verde and Port from Portugal. But, there are other wonderful wines from both countries, especially Dry Rosé, and we are going to drink them!
Our guides for our Iberian Peninsula Dry Rosé adventure are Kelly Burnett and Sue Ritter, our two Scholarship winners from 2022. Kelly and Sue will take us on a journey through some of Spain and Portugal's popular wine-making regions.

To celebrate Dry Rosé, we are holding this event as a pink party. So, wear pink to the event to join in the fun!

About Sue

Sue Ritter

For the past 20+ years, Sue has been a Licensed Massage Therapist and owner of Professional Therapeutic Massage in Pittsford, NY. Having grown up in the Finger Lakes region, Sue has always been interested in learning more about the wonderful world of wine, which quickly became a passion. She loves to travel to wine regions worldwide, particularly France. During the pandemic, Sue took the Wine and Spirits Education Trust levels 2 and 3 (WSET), using her Finger Lakes Women For WineSense Scholarship to help complete these courses. Sue plans to do a deeper dive into the wine world by taking the Diploma WSET, the French Wine Scholar from the Wine Scholar Guild, and the Certified Wine Educator program from the Society of Wine Educators. When she's not working, Sue enjoys golf, skiing, and traveling with her daughter Lauren, age 31.

About Kelly

Kelly Burnett

Kelly started her wine journey in 2009 working in several roles at a local Finger Lakes winery, before landing her career in marketing in 2016. During that time she caught the “wine bug” and her passion for learning about wine started to grow. Kelly became a member of Women For WineSense in 2018. In 2021 she earned level 2 in the Wines and Spirits Education Trust (WSET). Then continued on to pursue level 3, which she used her Women For WineSense scholarship earnings towards. In the Spring of 2022, Kelly joined the team at Buttonwood Grove Winery and Six Eighty Cellars where she is currently the Marketing and Wine Club Manager. In April 2022, Kelly took another leap and joined the Women For WineSense Rochester Chapter’s Board as their Marketing and Social Media Director. One of Kelly’s biggest accomplishments this past year was becoming a wine judge at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. In her spare time, Kelly volunteers for different events to benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times. She also enjoys camping and traveling with her partner, Jeff and their two daughters, Kennedy and Reagan.
